A few weeks ago 27 Miracles brought you the story of the Nigerian Engagement of Bukola and Frances. If you missed the story, click here to see it. https://27miracles.com/2013/03/23/the-traditional-nigerian-engagement-of-bukola-and-francis/
Once all the morning festivities for the engagement were done, it was time to get ready for the wedding!
Orijahnel Hair and Make up studios went to work!
Bukola wanted some specific details to stand out in this very romantic yet festive wedding. She placed the little details that she wanted to remember in Photo and video in her attire as well as the groom’s. Look at the bottom of both the bride and groom’s shoes.
If you remember during the Nigerian engagement, the bride received the beautiful emerald ring below from the groom.
The bouquet was made especially for Bukola by Lee Forrest.
During the Nigerian engagement in the morning, the groom had to present a proposal to the bride and her family in writing. Here is what that proposal looked like.
Frances is ready and anxiously awaiting his bride.
The Beautiful Lake Mary Event Center is being transformed to a romantic wedding setting where this couple will take their vows in a traditional Nigerian Wedding Ceremony. The decor was done by Lee Forest and his team. With a few personal touches from the bride showcasing the red wooden hearts on the chairs.
It’s just about time as the guests arrive and start to read the program for what is to happen in the next 1.5 hours of this wedding ceremony.
The bride and groom also had a wishing tree, hoping for a lot of advice that they can incorporate in to their marriage.
As the guests arrive in their traditional attire for a Nigerian wedding…you see many bright lively colors…
The Lake Mary Event Center does not allow open flames for the Unity Candle, so we had to improvise with what we have to make it memorable.
The procession begins…
There were three pastors conducting this wedding ceremony, as they enter with the groom and best man.
Lolly is the maid of honor and the sister of the bride….
Here come the flower girls. You can see Wedding Planner Rosie Moore in the back ground providing support to the youngest flower girl in the back…
Our flower girls are ready for this ceremony ….
Here comes the bride and her father…as the groom looks on…
Bukola’s father decided to dress in traditional Nigerian attire to give his little girl away….
Prayers from Francis the groom as he sees his beautiful bride
Here she is….entering with confidence and cheer….
As dad gives his princess away………..
Look at that beautiful bouquet with purples and feathers inside! Lee Forrest floral did a great job!
Lighting the Unity Candle….
Communion……..
A prayer of blessing over the couple…
The Bride and Groom are pronounced husband and wife and the groom kisses the bride….
Such an emotional moment as Lolly, the maid of honor and sister of the bride, wipes a tear…
The couple leaves the ceremony site with their parents and bridal party to go and sign the registrar. This is done in a private room as the guests wait their return.
Once the registrar is signed, then the couple enters the ceremony site dancing praises to God. It is a big celebration!
The second part of the ceremony starts with a sermon on marriage.
Once the sermon is done a Thanksgiving service begins. The minister calls a Thanksgiving praise to start and traditional songs are sung as each guest starting with the parents of the bride, then the parents of the groom congratulate the couple. This is followed by all the guests, once they all greet the bride and groom they return to their chairs. As you can see in the photos, they also collect money at this time as well for the happy couple, continuing from the morning ceremony.
Once the guests return to their seats, the ministers do a final blessing over the couple…
Okay it is time to celebrate, the happy couple dance their way out of the ceremony!!!
It is time for the bride and groom to see the reception site for the first time. Lee Forest, John Michael Catering and the 27 Miracles Team are ready to show case the bride’s dream in her mind turned into reality at the beautiful Lake Mary Event Center…Here is her reaction…
The Sweet Heart Table…
The tables had either red and purple accents….
The cake was by Sylvette Cakes through John Michael Catering…..
Once the Bride and Groom looked at the reception, it was time for some family photo shots…
and sunset pictures…..
It’s time for the reception full of dancing to begin! With the Nigerian MC flown in from Atlanta and the DJ from Brooklyn NY, the party was about ready to begin. The Nigerian custom is for the family of the bride and groom as well as the bridal party and the bride and groom to enter the reception dancing. As they do they are showered with money and the guests joining in the celebration dancing with them.
The Bride looks on as the dance floor is covered in money
The bride wanted to honor her mother with a special tribute to her mom, she loved the song “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and wanted to have someone dance to it. 27 Miracles contacted Nicole Wormley to interpret to modern dance this beautiful piece and tribute to her mother.
The maid of honor and best man toast the bride and groom….
Bukola and Francis want to thank their guests that came and spent time with them on this very special day, guests came from all over the USA, from Colorado, North Carolina, South Florida, North Florida, New York, Georgia, Nigeria and Europe….She also wanted to thank her vendors for making her wedding dreams come true….
Now what Bukola did not know is that her Groom Francis, wanted to thank her for being his wife. He asked Rosie Moore of 27 Miracles if he can have their famous Rose Surprise to the song “Isn’t She Lovely” by Stevie Wonder. The team of 27 Miracles along with the staff of John Michael Catering made this a reality for Bukola. Bukola was surprised and when the last rose was delivered by Francis, they finished the song dancing and sharing that special moment of love.
It is time to cut the cake and take the garter off….
The bride and groom enjoyed some dancing with their guests. The entire night with the exception of dinner was about dancing and celebrating with the happy couple.
Frances and Bukola sneaked off to change in to their traditional Nigerian outfits for the wedding…..
As the guests shower the happy couple in more dollars…
Bukola wanted to surprise Francis with a lighted lawn outside and candle that spelled I love you..but mother nature did not cooperate with that and the bride was totally disappointed. This put Rosie Moore, wedding planner for 27 Miracles to think…..Within minutes, she let Bukola know as the night came to an end, that it was time for her surprise for Francis. She looked at Rosie puzzled and when they walked in to the Rotunda, much to her surprise Rosie and Marcus had gathered all the tea lights (since open flames not allowed inside) from the tables while the guests were dancing to spell out l Heart You…Mission accomplished…a happy bride and groom….
The night ended and the happy couple left on a surprise honeymoon destination, known only by the groom!!!
Thank you to all our vendors that made this night a success and worked from Morning until night…..
