When you consider your wedding cake, a cake topper is a must have. This item has become ideal for weddings throughout the years. Why exactly? Food Editorials’ article by Deam Rass explains the history behind it. An excerpt follows.
The girl asked her father to create a symbol of the unflinching love between her and the groom for the world to see. After mulling over several ideas and carefully deliberating over each one of them, the father decided to make a unique creation – a lovely wedding cake, with two fabulous figurines on top of it. The figurines that the cake top featured were obviously of his daughter and her groom-to-be. The baker had conceived the cake topper as the perfect symbol of their love and bonding. (Rass, para. 12)
The reason why a figurine of the groom and bride has been a popular choice for a cake topper is due to what it symbolizes. It adds an image to the cake representing the love that the couple shares. While this figurine still catches the eye of many engaged couples, other cake topper options have grown in popularity. These include monograms, acrylic and porcelain hearts, and ceramic birds.
