When 27 Miracles Rosie Moore met Former Magic Player Darrell Armstrong, they immediately connected through both their passions and that is to help premature babies and their parents. As they sat together sharing stories about why each of them got involved in helping, it was clear they shared the same mission. Darrell had a premature baby of his own so he understood what Rosie Moore meant when she said she was passionate about helping parents.. “In 1999, following the premature birth of his youngest daughter, Darrell Armstrong founded the Darrell Armstrong Foundation for Premature Babies, Inc. Darrell knew his baby daughter would need special care and was thankful that he had the financial means to provide whatever she needed. He realized that many of the parents of the other critically ill children did not have the resources to provide the special treatments and equipment their premature children might need. It became Darrell’s mission to help provide those resources.”

Darrell is currently the Assistant Coach for the Dallas Mavericks and will be in Orlando for The Gift of Life. Darrell started his own foundation company called the Darrell Armstrong Foundation . Their mission: ” The Darrell Armstrong Foundation for Premature Babies, Inc.’s mission is to assist families of premature babies in their efforts to raise healthy children, so they may recognize the gift of love that God has given them.”

Proceeds will benefit the Florida Hospital of Children Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and teh making of the movie A Story of Faith which will provide resources as well for parents of premature babies.

The Mayor’s Proclamation:

Whereas, premature births have been increasingly steady, progressively and alarmingly over the past two decades; and

Whereas, many premature babies are born too small and face the risk of getting sick easily; and

Whereas, even though doctors have made excellent advances in caring for babies born too small and too soon, there is a long way to go in order to prevent preterm birth from happening in the first place; and

Whereas, 27Miracles is an organization that is presenting the Gift of Life, a fundraiser event inspired by Rosie Moore’s own story, who had a premature baby that was born 13 weeks early; and

Whereas, the event seeks to raise funds for equipment supporting Florida Hospital for Children’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit; and

Whereas, the special night celebrates the daily miracles of premature newborns and encourages our community to provide support to those families that are having premature babies; and

Whereas, organizations such as 27 Miracles work closely with volunteers and partners to raise public awareness of the problems of prematurity and to decrease the rate of preterm birth in our region:

When I was pregnant with my daughter, Genesis, I was recommended by doctor’s to go through an early termination because, according to them, she wasn’t going to make it to birth. They said that if she was even lucky enough to make it to her due date, that shouldn’t live more than a day. I decided NOT to make that decision; if my daughter was meant to leave me then she would leave on her own terms not because I decided. Genesis was born and stayed in the NICU for 3 months and 2 major surgeries including a left nephrectomy. My daughter is 5 years old and a FIGHTER. Dr. Bernstein is board certified in pediatrics and specializes in neonatal-perinatal medicine and pediatrics. He and the physicians at The Center for Neonatal Care provide comprehensive services and treatments for a variety of neonatal conditions. The Center was designed to treat premature and sick babies at Florida Hospital for Children. For newborns that are in a high-risk pregnancy, are premature at birth, or are critically ill, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) serves as their “home” until they are able to be discharged. The NICU is overseen by the neonatologists from the Center.

They have been shooting all events for the last 6 years in widescreen HD. One of the 1st in Central Florida to film in high-definition, as they feel it captures the event in the best quality for the future. Clients then can choose widescreen DVDs, or Blu Ray HD dvds. When you book them you get them not contractors who shoot for others. They only do 1 event per day in order to give their clients what they expect.

Mayor Buddy Dyer has declared that Saturday, September 13, 2014, is The Gift of Life Day and every resident of Orlando and surrounding cities should attend this event in support of premature babies.

Message from Mayor Buddy Dyer:

On September 13, 2014 an exciting fundraiser will take place at the Rosen Centre Hotel. Inspired by Rosie Moore’s own story of the struggles families face who have premature babies, this event seeks to raise funds for equipment for supporting Florida Hospital for Children, The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Proceeds will also go towards the making of the movie, A Story of Faith, to be filmed in part in the hospital which will provide additional resources for families whose children are patients in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Rosie’s son Kaleb was born at 1lb 10 oz and 27 weeks at Florida Hospital for Children in Orlando. Rosie has written a book called A Story of Faith which the movie will be based upon.

The event is called The Gift of Life and will involve a sit down dinner and both a silent and live auction component. Today’s spotlight is on Christine MacPhail, Orlando Harpist. Christine began playing the harp at age 6 and has been playing professionally in the Central Florida area for over 25 years. She enjoys playing a variety of music of all styles, from classical to contemporary, and always loves learning new songs and adapting them to the harp. When 27 Miracles interviewed Christine and asked why she wanted to get involved with The Gift of Life,her reply was ” I am honored to be helping Rosie to benefit A Story of Faith and Florida Hospital. The story of her son Kaleb is inspirational and would touch anyone’s heart. Rosie and the 27 Miracles Team are continually giving back to the community and I am privileged to be included at her charitable events.” Christine and her harp bless many in the Central Florida area by playing at weddings, charity events and more…..Her music is very inspiring. When Baby Kaleb was born, Christine made a cd for him that to date he still listens to before bed. The music was soothing to him during those long nights of hearing an oxygen concentrator all day and night. He became so used to Christine’s music that when she played at Kaleb’s baby dedication, he immediately turned his head to Christine’s music.
