Attracting and Working With the Luxury Bride

Have you ever wondered what it takes to work with a luxury bride? What is considered a luxury bride? In this market managing a luxury bride means managing large budgets and planning events for clients that have high expectations. It is not enough to have a degree in wedding planning services to call yourself a luxury wedding planner. The luxury wedding planner must have experience, etiquette and knowledge of what a luxury wedding entails along with exceptional service.

Luxury brides most of the time come referred to a luxury wedding planner through word of mouth. One rarely sees a luxury bride at a bridal show or being contacted through any of the online forums. To work with a luxury bride, you will need to learn where these brides eat, shop, get their hair done and work out. It is a circle that you would have to be willing to frequent. Most wedding planners starting out do not have the finances to invest in to their business right away so they start small which is okay as they develop their company.

If you are going to cater to the luxury bride, your prices will need to reflect that to the client, but with that will come a certain expectation of expert quality care. Ask yourself, does your website reflect luxury? Are the pictures that you are showcasing considered luxurious? You won’t appeal to the luxury bride if your pictures and videos that are being showcased reflect a DIY or budget conscious bride. For the right wedding planner the DIY or budget conscious bride is perfect, but for the luxury bride, from the moment they look at your website to the moment that they meet you, needs to say luxury.

A luxury wedding planner does not take on as many clients in a year due to the time that is invested in each client. The luxury bride is usually a very busy high-profile bride that will not have a lot of time on their hands; their expectation will be flexibility and trust in you as the luxury planner to plan their wedding seamlessly.

As a luxury wedding planner, you must always look and sound your best. From the location that the client meetings take place , to the purse and attire that is worn. When meeting the client it is not an option to be in slacks and a sweater or a shirt. The luxury planner should in a nice suit, dress, or pant suit. It does not matter if the bride and groom come in jeans and a polo, they are looking at you and how you fit in their inner circle. Think about your hair, is it professional looking in style, is your make up, professional, are your nails done? You might say all of that is vain and yes it can be if not looked at in stride, however, in order to capture that circle of clients, a certain level of expectation is going to be required.

Now dress code and professional attire should always be a must regardless of what client any wedding planner is meeting because you only have 60 seconds to make a first impression when you walk into a room to meet a client. Let the attire speak first, then what comes out of your mouth in the next few minutes is part 2 of selling yourself to the client and finding out if you are a good fit for them and if they are a good fit for you.

These are great tips to think about as you mold your business to the type of clients that you want to work with.

Heather Snively, Master Bridal Consultant spoke at our Association of Bridal Consultants luncheon recently. We wanted her to bring us a few points on working with the luxury bride. When coordinating the venue and the wedding professionals for the meeting, it was important to think of the topic and who we needed to obtain to showcase a high-end event. One of the points that Heather brought up in the meeting, was about meeting the catering manager of the high end venue for the first time. When the planner comes to the luxury venue to meet the catering manager, it is important to have an established relationship prior to the meeting, even if it is on the phone. When walking in to the venue with the client, exude confidence in who you are as a planner and have the knowledge to know the client’s budget, even though a luxury client may have a high budget, there is always an amount in their mind of what they are willing to spend but will most of the time spend much more because they go with a want and must have vs a need.

Planning A Tented Wedding

Planning a tented wedding takes a lot of planning for sure. Susan Southerland of Just Marry and Darrin Shiffril of Orlando Party Rentals shared their best practices with the wedding professionals at the Association of Bridal Consultants meeting at the quaint Celebration Golf Club, in beautiful Celebration, FL.

First of all to plan a tent wedding there are many considerations to think about, per Susan and Darrin, location, location , location! The weather, feeling Hot, Hot, Hot!! Yes, you will be if the correct amount of air conditioning is not reserved in the tent. Clear tents are trending with up lights to enhance the look.

Planning a tent wedding is costly, but when hiring the correct wedding specialists, they will walk you through every step that you need to be in compliance with permits, noise ordinance and decor to enhance the tent.

On May 21, Celebration Golf decided to see just what we could do with a tent, so to plan we went with the help of many wedding professionals………….

Now for The Association of Bridal Consultants, the evening started with a signature drink of white refreshing sangria to cool everyone off from the hot spring evening in Florida. They had Passed Hors d’ oeuvres of Cold Smoked Shrimp Mousse on a Garlic Crostini and Minced Blackened Beef Tenderloin drizzled with Cajun Aioli.

As the wedding professionals milled around they were able to see the beautiful grounds at Celebration Golf. There are a few sites for doing their ceremonies.

Some couples want the beauty of the outdoors, but at the same time want to enjoy the coolness of the indoors, so the best way to satisfy that is a clear tent as provided by Darrin from Orlando Wedding and Party Rentals. Darrin educated the planners on knowing the best times to use tents, types of tents and when air conditioning is needed vs heat and how to best cool the tent down. Look also at the beautiful chivari chairs provided here by Chair Affair, a perfect match for the outdoor garden theme.

Today we looked at a clear tent open to air with beautiful up lighting for an evening of dancing under the stars.

As the tour ended it was time to go inside the quaint ballroom perfect for a Southern or beach themed wedding. The wedding professionals came in to the ballroom and were serenaded by music from White Rose Entertainment! Their amber lights brought a nice warmth to the ballroom and the perimeters of the property.

The centerpieces and linens provided by RJ Glamour and Innovation, invited everyone in to a romantic setting where a feeling of coziness allowed the guests to relax and enjoy the night.

As the guests were seated they were able to read what was being served for dinner on the beautiful menus designed by Anni Muniz of Anni Muniz Events, tempting the taste buds!

Chilled Tomato Gazpacho topped with a Cucumber Sour Cream and an Herbed Crouton

2^nd Course

Baby Spinach Salad topped with dried Cranberries, toasted Pine Nuts, and Crumbled Blue Cheese drizzled with a Bacon Herb Vinaigrette

3^rd Course

Seared Grouper with Grape Tomato and Roasted Corn Relish

4^th Course

Herb and Dijon Mustard crusted Rack of Lamb with Minted Lamb Jus and Spaghetti Squash Stuffed Tomato

Now one thing we want to point out, did you see the mismatched china from A Chair Affair? This really set the tone for the evening, letting you know that you were going to be dining in style in all of the southern charm that Celebration Golf could provide. What better way! And top that with some iced tea, you knew on this day that you were in the South!

Susan Southerland of Just Marry and Darrin Shiffrel of Orlando Wedding and Party Rentals educated the wedding professionals on all the ABC’s of planning a wedding or event in a tent. So many things that have to be well thought of when planning a wedding or event in a tent. Many people think it is a piece of cake, but as the professionals learned that night, planning a tent event, is strictly an event that to make it a success you need professionals to execute it. The dynamic entertaining duo brought us stories of success, stories of nightmares they have heard of , how to plan these events, costs, permissions and so much more!

We had a visit from our state coordinator Carmen Mesa from South Florida. It is always a treat to get to hear what is happening at ABC on a bigger scale than what we here monthly at our meetings. Carmen was able to touch on the many benefits of becoming an ABC member, what happens at our state conference and our national conference. Carmen encouraged everyone to contact anyone of the co-directors for membership information.

The sunset came shortly after as we were able to view it right through the picturesque windows in the ballroom. This led straight to dessert time to the tunes of BB Kings, playing those jazz blues as we watched the chef attended bananas fosters a la mode station.

As a special treat pastry chef Lucy Martin of Soffelle Confections, tempted us with some gourmet cupcakes to take home in our little bags of treats!

As the wedding professionals bid their good byes, they each received a little sweet treat from Lorraine owner of the Lake Nona Candy Company.

I Am in A New York State of Mind

As Billy Joel, puts it some folks like to get away…. That is what Migdalia and Edwin did on their wedding day. They decided to bring their New York state of mind to Orlando.

The wedding weekend fast approached, with rehearsal at the church and a nice dinner at Buca Di Peppo, sharing a night with family and friends. Thank you to the managers at Buca! Migdalia gave each of the girls in the bridal party travel bags so they can have all their wedding stuff organized. The guys received travel bags for the day of the wedding as well. The guests received custom label chocolate bars

The day arrived for the wedding to begin! Migdalia thoroughly enjoyed her time on Saturday morning getting ready in her bridal suite at First Baptist Orlando. Look at the detail in RJ Glamour’s work as he surprised the bride with a New York bling apple on her bouquet. 27 Miracles loves it when the wedding professionals surprise their clients!

Putting on your wedding dress is always a special moment. Karla, the bride’s daughter, took that special moment to help her mom get dressed.

Now that everyone is dressed and ready to go, the girls thought they would show off their new travel bags and how well they worked on the wedding day to carry all their needs.

The girls were having too much fun, getting their pictures taken. One special thing about this group of girls, is that the majority were sisters of the bride and a best friend and her daughter. It made the bond very special.

The Bride was ready to marry her soul mate!

While the girls were getting ready in their suite, Edwin and his guys were having their own fun on their side!

The church looked beautiful with the red carpet and the aisle with the candles and flowers…

It is time to welcome the guests!27 Miracles had a surprise guest come to the wedding, hmm….

“can you babysit my guinea pig while we are in the ceremony, he won’t make a sound?” Okay we get asked to hold on to purses, watches, bags, hair bands, cell phones, but guinea pigs…okay that is a first…We took their word for it and said sure we did not open it to see what was inside, for fear of what may come out!!

When the bride was planning the wedding with Master Bridal Consultant Rosie Moore of 27 Miracles, she wanted to do something special but did not know what to do. Rosie Moore suggested that she could honor Edwin for his service in the Marines and other veterans and active duty military. The honor guard, came out to First Baptist Orlando to do just that. What a challenge to keep the groom hidden on one side so that he did not see them come out until it was time. We had them wait inside the doors and the groom outside the doors of the church in the lobby. This ensured he did not see them. Poor Edwin, kept asking Rosie Moore, the planner, why he couldn’t go inside as they practiced the night before. Finally the time to open the doors came, Moore, explained to Edwin that this is a special surprise for him and after he sees it, he can go inside. The bride of course could not see the groom, so she took a sneak peek from the side of her room as the honor guard posted their flags to “God Bless the USA.”

Photographer Nick from 123 Photography captured the Honor Guard as they came in to post their flags. Scott from Treasured Moments Videography was able to capture the moment as they entered. These are the reasons why video is so important, they give life to your still photography shots and tell the story that is captured with expression.

It’s time to enter the ceremony, the mother of the groom enters followed by Pastor David Uth of First Baptist Orlando and the groom and his groomsmen.

Now the moment everyone has been waiting for…the entrance of the bride escorted by her son Marcus. The bridal party anxiously awaits her entrance while the groom with nervous anticipation holds back tears as the moment has come, when he will see his beautiful bride!

As Migdalia and Edwin profess their love for each other, they share special vows written to each other. Migdalia makes everyone laugh as she vows to be a good wife and “like Fox News, understand football and watch the travel channel over and over.” She also thanked Edwin “for loving her cats even though he was allergic to them.” LOL!

But on the serious note, this couple wanted to start their marriage right with celebrating communion as the song by Nicole C. Mullins “My Redeemer Lives” played softly in the background.

The couple wanted to do something different, they decided to do a Unity Cross.

“The Unity Cross is a multi-piece sculpture that is assembled during the Unity Service of the Wedding Ceremony representing how the -Two become One. The Groom places the outer Cross in the beautiful wood base as the Pastor explains how God created man- Bold, Strong, the Defender of the Family yet how he is empty and incomplete without the woman. The Bride then places the more delicate cross inside of the Grooms cross as the Pastor explains how God created Woman- Delicate, multi-faceted, taking care of all of the little things that completes the man, and the -Two become One. The Bride and Groom then use the 3 golden pegs to lock the union(cross) together in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit as the pastor exclaims that: What God has brought together let no man take apart. Then the Unity Cross is taken home and displayed as a Daily Reminder of your Wedding Day and the Covenant that you both have made.”

The Pastor pronounced them husband and wife. “you may kiss your beautiful bride.” Migdalia and Edwin were so thrilled to have their Pastor David Uth marry them and to have the honor guard honor Edwin and all those that served so that we can be free today. When you have not seen your family in a while,it is important to capture those special moments with them. Check out 123 Photography as he captured this happy couple with some fun bridal party shots.

Finally a moment alone….

The bride and groom are both from New York and they always said that the day they got married, they wanted to have a New York Themed wedding and that they did! See the attention to detail that was placed on this themed wedding. The venue is The Crowne Plaza Universal, with its picture decor of the Big Apple. The uplights in the background, a cityscape of New York, thanks to Roque Productions, the wedding cake, has the New York Skyline with the big apple in the background. Each table was a different city or street that meant something to the bride and groom; from Manhattan, to Park Ave, Rockefeller Center and Central Park. The red, black and bling colors made this wedding over the top in decor by RJ Glamour and Innovation. The Wedding cake was customized by Party Flavors, not only beautiful, but delicious with each tier a different flavor. The cake topper a special order through the U.S. Marines.

As the 27 Miracles team brought the Bride and groom to see the ballroom for the first time, the expression on their faces tells it all as to how happy they were to see the fruits of the year-long planning come to life. They entered to one of their favorite songs “Native New Yorker” by Odyssey. The couple got to enjoy a special moment to dance while looking at the ballroom in their little piece of New York at The Crown Plaza.

It’s time for the reception to start.

But the best part of all was the bridal party entrance to Frank Sinatra’s New York while the Bridal Party did a kick line entrance suited with top hat and cane as choreographed by Dance It Studio’s very own Codi!

Presenting Mr. and Mrs.! Then the bridal party broke out into a hustle ” Ain’t No Stopping Us Now” By McFadden and Whitehead, this group can dance!! This started the party !!!

The Bride and groom had their first dance as their friends and family embraced them with support to “You’re My Everything” by Santa Esmeralda. A truly romantic song as the groom sang to his bride! The bride danced with her son Marcus to a special song “Momma” by Boyz II MenThe bride wanted to also dance a special song as a surprise with her daughter Karla, “In My Daughter’s Eyes” by Martina McBrideThe groom selected a special song to dance with his mother who came in from New York. She said she would not miss dancing with her son to “Gracias Por Ser Mi Mama” by Briseyda( Thank you for Being My Mother) The maid of honor and the best man gave beautiful toasts welcoming everyone to the family and honoring the couple as they blend a family together. The bride and groom thanked everyone for coming, they were overwhelmed with emotion!It’s time to get this party started! Everyone had a wonderful dinner and now , time to work off all the food! This crowd never left the dance floor, they danced all night until the end. Roque productions kept the tunes coming and interacting with the guests. There was a special request for “The Wobble” because when the groom once forgot the DJ’s name after the initial meeting a year prior, his name became known as “The Wobble Man!” Takes a good DJ/MC team to get the crowd interacting, dancing and joining in for the fun.

Cake Time! As the bride and groom cut the cake to “Sugar Pie Honey Bunch” by Four tops, the guests admired this unique cake made exclusively by Party Flavors. The part that every single girl awaits, the Bouquet Toss! All the girls lined up as “Girls Just Wanna have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper played in the background and the girls danced. The girls were ready to catch, 1, 2, 3, psych! Okay once more, 1, 2, 3, the bride turned around and handed the boquet to her sister, getting married in a few months along with a special blessing on her upcoming marriage on a cruise! Now the bride and groom wanted to honor the longest married couple with a bottle of champagne and a special dance like they did back in their day. This happy couple has been married for over 40 years. They got to dance to “Lets Do The Twist” by Chubby Checker. Afterwards they gave the advice to the couple of how they maintained their marriage so long, respect, date nights, and laugh together. Now the bride had a special gift for her daughter Karla, who was the maid of honor. Karla is getting married in a few months and her mom wanted to give her some words of advice and to thank her for being there on her special day. The bride gave her bouquet to her daughter!The bride and groom had a chance to do a honeymoon dance with their guests! Started off by the maid of honor and best man!

The bride requested that they not do a a garter removal or toss and 27 Miracles of course wanted to honor that request. However in its place. the groom, had a special surprise for the bride. She sat down with her back to the entrance on a chair, with the groom on one knee and the bride looking around at wedding planner Rosie Moore, thinking, “did she forget that there is no garter?” 27 Miracles loves a good surprise…as Edwin, professed his love for Migdalia, Mireya y su Mariachi Charros de Mexico, came in serenading Migdalia to several love songs dedicated by the groom. Her look was speechless! The bride and groom did not want to end the night without one special romantic song to dance to, “Europa” by Gato Barbieri as they made memories of this special night. The guests joined in with them.

The night ended with a high note to “Moviendo Las Caderas” by Oro Solido

What a wonderful night of sharing with friends and family, dancing, eating and having a great time. The guests did not want to go home. Migdalia and Edwin had a special exit to sparklers! A little surprise await the happy couple as they start their new life together….

Happy Valentine’s Day!!!! Love Sacrifices All Except Love Itself!!

By now everyone has received their sweetie’s Valentine’s Cards, gifts, hugs and kisses…Now it is time to wind down and share in our last Valentine series …..The Love of Vikki and Chip…..27 Miracles writes a lot of wedding and engagement blogs…..but sit back and read this couples story of sacrifice, love and committment….

When Vikki and Chip planned their wedding day, they planned it based on their school schedule. They started working with Master Bridal Consultant, Rosie Moore to plan this beautiful event back in the summer of 2013 when they were both off from school. The date was set 12/13/14. That summer they looked at over 15 venues in a span of a few days and ended up picking the place where Chip proposed to Vikki, The Beautiful Wyndham Orlando.

Everything was set. The following summer they did tastings, floral samples, finalizing the wedding and the honeymoon. Then came the bad news, the wedding may be off!! What? Why? Vikki is a graduate student as a Pharmacist and school decided that they will not end until 12/18/14 and she will have a final exam on 12/13/14 and another on 12/15/14. As much as she tried they would not allow her to take the exam early. Vikki contacted Rosie with the dilemma and what can we do. Planner Rosie Moore, said give her a day to think about things. Then it was set, the honeymoon was postponed until the summer,we will get everything done for the wedding earlier, as far as preparations. The bride would have a friend drive her to school the morning of the test and when she arrived back, hair and make up would be there ready and waiting for her.

Vikki was up early and out for her final exam, first of many after studying all night the day before after rehearsal. When she came back, we were all set….Everyone was ready for Vikki….Vikki was smiling and ready to get married.

While Vikki was getting ready, Chip was counting the time till he can see his love…

The moment had arrived for Vikki and her dad to walk down the aisle and give his little girl away…

I Now pronounce you husband and wife!

After the wedding ceremony it was family pictures and fun pictures …

Now it is time to see the ballroom, the surprise for Vikki and Chip. As they entered the ballroom they were serenaded by the song I Do…..by Colbie Caillat

We can’t forget signing the marriage licence as Vikki and Chip watch in the background…

To the Bride and Groom….well wishes and toasts…

After Vikki thanked everyone for coming, there was a special surprise for Vikki and Chip. An honor to them from the Wyndham Orlando Resort and 27 Miracles. A Rose surprise to the tune of “You are My Everything, “Barry White… You see due to Vikki and Chip’s dedication to their careers and also their dedication to volunteering for different charity organizations, they deserved some recognition.

Let’s get this party started!

Love at Christmas Time

Merry Christmas to all. We hope that everyone had a wonderful time with their friends and families! Today’s blog is about Ursula and Robert, a couple in love. Ursula and Robert met in their complex at the gym. Each time they were out and about their complex, they kept bumping into each other and it was love at first sight! They started dating and the rest is history!!! Robert being the romantic that he is got down on one knee and proposed to Ursula!

The happy couple had great plans to have a large wedding, but instead decided that they would have a more intimate and romantic wedding and focus on their new home and their new baby on the way. Although some folks could not attend this week day ceremony, the intimacy of the wedding size, was what they both wanted.

Ursula dreamed of a wedding in the park, not an easy task when it’s a park and there is not a true back up for rain. But the planning went on at Kissimmee Lake Front. Let’s watch as this day unfolds.

The wedding day arrived!! It was a hot Friday Morning in October. Upper 80’s, sunny but humid and hot! Southern Elegance Limousine started the morning off with picking up our beautiful Bride Ursula at her home to bring her to the ceremony. The groom Robert and his best man arrived first.

It is time to start getting ready, with RJ Glamour providing the bride’s favorite flower, Sunflowers in her bouquet and maid of honor’s of bouquet.

Ursula and Robert thought that they would not get a first dance in, but thanks to some planning with Roque Productions, he was able to play “All of Me” and they got that first dance in with Treasured Moments Videography capturing the emotion live of this happy couple in love, surprised that they can share a first dance after their ceremony!

Ursula and Robert’s family planned a picnic luncheon in the park for the happy couple but one of the things that Ursula and Robert would miss on was their first cake cutting and toast. We could not let that happen, so a cake from Publix came to the rescue as Michael Anthony Photography captured this sweet and fun moment.

When Alicia and Mike were thinking about planning their rehearsal dinner, they wanted something fun that would speak about who they are and yet not so formal so as not to take away from the wedding. Alicia wanted to also surprise Mike, with something to remind him of New York….

27 Miracles’ planned on having their rehearsal at the International Palms Hotel where a human chess board, pool tables, beach volley ball, fire pits and the best thing of all would be available to this fun group…a place where Gator Tales could be told.

You might ask, why Gator tales what is so big about that? Well for die-hard Seminoles Fan, Alicia, think about it…..

Dinner was amazing with three choices for guests to select!
