ABC Orlando Learns About Themed Weddings and Events

Have you ever met with a client and they come to you with the craziest ideas?  They want to have Star Wars or Batman movie theme songs in their wedding?  The songs are okay, but what happens when the bride wants to dress her entire bridal party in Star Wars theme including her and the groom, what do you do?  Well for starters, eventhough as a planner it may not be your vision, learn to do a lot of listening, a lot of focusing on your bride and plenty of research  to get the theme right.  If that bride is coming to you trusting in your expertise to pull this wedding theme off perfectly, as a planner we must  research everything about that theme.

Debra Shea Roberston, wedding decor designer was our speaker at our ABC luncheon held at the Wyndham Orlando Resort.  The room was decorated in fall colors for our themed fall event of the month.  AV Media did a fabulous job with the falling leaves and up lighting to create that beautiful atmosphere, while the MC Andres Roque from Roque Productions, got us in the fall mood with some mood enhancing music as we prepared for fall. The centerpieces brought in the fall colors to enhance the crushed linens selected by Connie Duglin  and the tablescape  with  A  Chair Affair’s chargers .

The day was captured( pun intended) by the talented photographer Elle, from Captured by Elle.  Treasured moments was there to record this fabulous training on themed weddings and events as Debra Shea took us through memory lane of themed weddings  she has done in her many years of experience as  floral designer.

The afternoon ended with dessert from Cakes by Design to tempt the taste buds with an apple cinnamon cake and candied apples from Davimar Cakes.

I Am in A New York State of Mind

As Billy Joel, puts it some folks like to get away…. That is what Migdalia and Edwin did on their wedding day.  They decided to bring their New York state of mind to Orlando.

If you missed Migdalia and Edwin’s engagement story, check it out here :

Migdalia and Edwin Engagement Story

The wedding weekend fast approached, with rehearsal at the church and a nice dinner at Buca Di Peppo, sharing a night with  family and friends.  Thank you to the managers at Buca!  11138168_10152967035397795_8963204353793953295_n  Migdalia gave each of the girls in the bridal party  travel bags so they can have all their wedding stuff organized.  The guys received travel bags for the day of the wedding as well.  The guests received custom label chocolate bars 11121769_10152967036407795_80085076336548155_n

The day arrived for the wedding to begin! Migdalia thoroughly enjoyed her time on Saturday morning getting ready in her bridal suite at First Baptist Orlando. Look at the detail in RJ Glamour’s work as he surprised the bride with a New York bling apple on her bouquet. 27 Miracles loves it when  the wedding professionals surprise their clients!

Now that everyone is dressed and ready to go, the girls thought they would show off their new travel bags and how well they worked on the wedding day to carry all their needs.

123- (33 of 541)123- (34 of 541)It is time to welcome the guests!123- (71 of 541)27 Miracles had a surprise guest come to the wedding, hmm….1908352_10152972571522795_6269355648209943462_n

“can you babysit my guinea pig while we are in the ceremony, he won’t make a sound?” Okay we get asked to hold on to purses, watches, bags, hair bands, cell phones, but guinea pigs…okay that is a first…We took their word for it and said sure we did not open it to see what was inside, for fear of what may come out!!

When the bride was planning the wedding with Master Bridal Consultant Rosie Moore of 27 Miracles, she wanted to do something special but did not know what to do.  Rosie Moore suggested that she could  honor Edwin for his service in the Marines and other veterans and active duty military.  The honor guard, came out to First Baptist Orlando to do just that.  What a challenge to keep the groom hidden on one side so that he did not see them come out until it was time.  We had them wait inside the doors and the groom outside the doors of the church in the lobby.  This ensured he did not see them.  Poor Edwin, kept asking Rosie Moore, the planner, why he couldn’t go inside as they practiced the night before.  Finally the time to open the doors came, Moore, explained to Edwin that this is a special surprise for him and after he sees it, he can go inside.  The bride of course could not see the groom, so she took a sneak peek from the side of her room as the honor guard posted their flags to “God Bless the USA.”

Watch the groom’s reaction as he awaits the doors to be opened.

Photographer Nick from 123 Photography captured the Honor Guard as they came in to post their flags. Scott from Treasured Moments Videography was able to capture the moment as they entered.  These are the reasons why video is so important, they give life to your still photography shots and tell the story that is captured with expression.

It’s time to enter the ceremony, the mother of the groom enters followed by Pastor David Uth of First Baptist Orlando and the groom and his groomsmen.

123- (80 of 541) 123- (82 of 541) 123- (85 of 541)Now the moment everyone has been waiting for…the entrance of the bride escorted by her son Marcus.  The bridal party anxiously awaits her entrance while the groom with nervous anticipation holds back tears as the moment has come, when he will see his beautiful bride!

123- (99 of 541) 123- (100 of 541) 123- (101 of 541) 123- (102 of 541) 123- (105 of 541) 123- (106 of 541) 123- (107 of 541) 123- (109 of 541) 123- (110 of 541) 123- (111 of 541) 123- (112 of 541)As Migdalia and Edwin profess their love for each other, they share special vows  written to each other.   Migdalia makes everyone laugh as she vows to be a good wife and “like Fox News, understand football and watch the travel channel over and over.” She also thanked Edwin “for loving her cats even though he was allergic to them.”  LOL!123- (114 of 541) 123- (117 of 541) 123- (118 of 541) 123- (122 of 541) 123- (123 of 541) 123- (129 of 541) 123- (132 of 541) 123- (135 of 541) 123- (139 of 541) 123- (142 of 541) 123- (144 of 541) 123- (146 of 541) 123- (149 of 541) 123- (150 of 541)

But on the serious note, this couple wanted to start their marriage right with celebrating communion as the song by Nicole C. Mullins “My Redeemer Lives” played softly in the background.

123- (151 of 541) 123- (153 of 541) 123- (154 of 541) 123- (155 of 541) 123- (156 of 541) 123- (157 of 541)The couple wanted to do something different, they decided to do a Unity Cross.

“The Unity Cross is a multi-piece sculpture that is assembled during the Unity Service of the Wedding Ceremony representing how the -Two become One. The Groom places the outer Cross in the beautiful wood base as the Pastor explains how God created man- Bold, Strong, the Defender of the Family yet how he is empty and incomplete without the woman. The Bride then places the more delicate cross inside of the Grooms cross as the Pastor explains how God created Woman- Delicate, multi-faceted, taking care of all of the little things that completes the man, and the -Two become One. The Bride and Groom then use the 3 golden pegs to lock the union(cross) together in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit as the pastor exclaims that: What God has brought together let no man take apart. Then the Unity Cross is taken home and displayed as a Daily Reminder of your Wedding Day and the Covenant that you both have made.”

123- (158 of 541) 123- (159 of 541) 123- (160 of 541)

The Pastor pronounced them husband and wife.  “you may kiss your beautiful bride.” 123- (161 of 541) 123- (162 of 541) 123- (163 of 541) 123- (165 of 541) 123- (167 of 541)Migdalia and Edwin were so thrilled to have their Pastor David Uth marry them and to have the honor guard honor Edwin and all those that served so that we can be free today. 123- (170 of 541) 123- (182 of 541)18114_10152972562262795_5972756448744776646_nWhen you have not seen your family in a while,it is important to capture those special moments with them.  Check out 123 Photography as he captured this happy couple with some fun bridal party shots.

123- (237 of 541)The bride and groom are both from New York and they always said that the day they got married, they wanted to have a New York Themed wedding and that they did!  See the attention to detail that was placed on this themed wedding.  The venue is The Crowne Plaza Universal, with its picture decor of the Big Apple.  The uplights in the background,  a cityscape of New York, thanks to Roque Productions, the wedding cake, has the New York Skyline with the big apple in the background.  Each table was a different city or street that meant something to the bride and groom; from Manhattan, to Park Ave, Rockefeller Center and Central Park.  The red, black and bling colors made this wedding over the top in decor by RJ Glamour and Innovation.  The Wedding cake was customized by Party Flavors, not only beautiful, but delicious with each tier a different flavor.  The cake topper a special order through the U.S. Marines.123- (240 of 541) 123- (241 of 541) 123- (242 of 541) 123- (243 of 541) 123- (245 of 541) 123- (246 of 541) 123- (250 of 541) 123- (251 of 541) 123- (253 of 541) 123- (254 of 541) 123- (255 of 541) 123- (257 of 541) 123- (259 of 541) 123- (260 of 541) 123- (261 of 541) 123- (262 of 541) 123- (263 of 541) 123- (265 of 541) 123- (266 of 541) 123- (267 of 541)

As the 27 Miracles team brought the Bride and groom to see the ballroom for the first time, the expression on their faces tells it all as to how happy they were to see the fruits of the year-long planning come to life. They entered to one of their favorite songs “Native New Yorker” by Odyssey.  The couple got to enjoy a special moment to dance while looking at the ballroom in their little piece of New York at The Crown Plaza.123- (274 of 541) 123- (275 of 541) 123- (277 of 541) 123- (278 of 541) 123- (279 of 541) 123- (280 of 541) 123- (281 of 541) 123- (286 of 541) 123- (289 of 541) 123- (292 of 541) 123- (293 of 541) 123- (295 of 541) 123- (297 of 541) 123- (305 of 541) 123- (309 of 541) 123- (311 of 541)

It’s time for the reception to start. 123- (313 of 541) 123- (314 of 541)

But the best part of all was the bridal party entrance to Frank Sinatra’s New York while the Bridal Party did a kick line entrance suited with top hat and cane as choreographed by Dance It Studio’s very own Codi!

The Bride and groom had their first dance as their friends and family embraced them with support to “You’re My Everything” by Santa Esmeralda.  A truly romantic song as the groom sang to his bride! 123- (337 of 541) 123- (338 of 541) 123- (339 of 541) 123- (340 of 541) 123- (341 of 541) 123- (342 of 541) 123- (343 of 541) 123- (344 of 541) 123- (346 of 541)The bride danced with her son Marcus to a special song “Momma” by Boyz II Men123- (351 of 541)The bride wanted to also dance a special song as a surprise with her daughter Karla, “In My Daughter’s Eyes” by Martina McBride123- (357 of 541)The groom selected a special song to dance with his mother who came in from New York. She said she would not miss dancing with her son to “Gracias Por Ser Mi Mama” by Briseyda( Thank you for Being My Mother)123- (362 of 541) 123- (364 of 541)The maid of honor and the best man gave beautiful toasts welcoming everyone to the family and honoring the couple as they blend a family together. 123- (369 of 541) 123- (370 of 541) 123- (371 of 541)The bride and groom thanked everyone for coming, they were overwhelmed with emotion!123- (376 of 541)It’s time to get this party started!  Everyone had a wonderful dinner and now , time to work off all the food! This crowd never left the dance floor, they danced all night until the end.  Roque productions kept the tunes coming and interacting with the guests.  There was a special request for “The Wobble” because when the groom once forgot the DJ’s name after the initial meeting a year prior, his name became known as “The Wobble Man!” Takes a good DJ/MC team to get the crowd interacting, dancing and joining in for the fun.

What is the Difference Between a Venue Coordinator and an Outside Wedding Coordinator

The age-old question is always, what is the difference between the venue coordinator and the outside wedding planner?  The Association of Bridal Consultants (ABC) invited Zhay Robles/Catering Manager at 1805 on the Boulevard and Caitlin Lawler/Wedding Planner/Owner of Plan It Event Design and Management to answer those questions.  Mark Kingsdorf Master Bridal Consultant and Co Director for ABC facilitated the discussion.

Are You Ready for Some Football?

Are you ready for some football?

Well we may not be having a football game today, but we are certainly in the festive burgundy and gold colors of FSU.  That is what we have with the wedding of Alicia and Mike!!!

27 Miracles loves a good classic/romantic wedding.  That is what Alecia and Mike were looking for, but when Alecia indicated that their favorite team was the Seminoles and would like to incorporate that in there somehow, that was no difficult task with bling and color to make that a reality.

Their wedding ceremony started at the beautiful First Baptist Church Orlando.  The ceremony was very touching, honoring the Groom’s parents with a picture of them so that their memory was there to share in that special day.

Support Breast Cancer and Leave a Legacy

You may be wondering how can I support Breast Cancer and leave a legacy?  27 Miracles got involved with supporting breast cancer organizations back in 2008 as it was something that they believed in supporting.  It became a reality when Adriana, friend or Wedding Planner Rosie Moore, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009.  The battle was not an easy one for Adriana as she continued to work and maintain an “as normal life” for her baby boy.  She always had a smile on her face and looking to see  how she could help others.  One of the things that Adriana always said, was that she wanted to leave a legacy for all to remember her, especially her baby boy.  In February 2010, Adriana lost the battle with breast cancer but she left her legacy behind.  To all women, get help. mammogram screenings and make memories with your family and capture them.

On the same note, another friend of Rosie’s, Barbie, was also going through the same battle, breast cancer .  Barbie tells her story of how she almost cancelled her mammogram because she was too busy preparing for her trip to Alaska and just busyness with the kids.  She went to her mammogram only to find that she had a very advanced breast cancer diagnosis.  Life changed drastically as it does for all who is diagnosed.Cancer does not ask permission to come if it is the right time or not, it just shows up.  After intense chemo and radiation, Barbie beat the cancer, today she is a 5 year survivor!!

Today organizations like Susan G Komen, help women obtain mammograms and to be educated on breast cancer.

“Susan G. Komen fought breast cancer with her heart, body and soul. Throughout her diagnosis, treatments, and endless days in the hospital, she spent her time thinking of ways to make life better for other women battling breast cancer instead of worrying about her own situation. Moved by Susan’s compassion for others and commitment to making a difference, Nancy G. Brinker promised her sister that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer.

Though Susan lost her battle with the disease, her legacy lives on through the work of Susan G. Komen, the organization Nancy started in her honor.”

Today 27 Miracles asks you to do a few things:

-Check your breast doing self exams every month

-get your mammograms

-If you got married and you still have your gown sitting in your closet and you are not preserving it or selling it, consider donating it so that it can be sold to another bride and 100% of the donations goes directly to Komen to fight breast cancer

-If you are a bride and have not purchased your gown, consider purchasing a gown through 27 Miracles and your purchase will be helping to make a difference.

Here are some samples of gowns, they are all clean and ready for purchase.

Today’s Spotlight is on Roque Productions

27 Miracles wants to recognize Andres Roque of Roque Productions.  Andres and his team are no strangers to working and giving back to the community.  That is in fact how Rosie Moore of 27 Miracles met Andres.  She was in need of vendors to work at the 27 Miracles Christmas Extravaganza in downtown Winter Garden.  Rosie did not know Andres but they met at a Bridal Show.  When Rosie emailed vendors for assistance in this event, Andres was the first to say, I will help.  This event was to raise funds and honor the Brides Against Breast Cancer, Toys for Tots and the Boys and Girls Club of Winter Garden.  With over 400 plus people attending the event, the night was a success on that cold December 2, 2010 weeknight.

After that Roque Productions has worked with 27 Miracles on various other community events, weddings and Quinces.   27 Miracles’ clients are always happy with the stellar work that they perform.

When we asked Andres why do you do what you do for the community, his reply “If you have the opportunity to get involved with The Gift of Life event, I really encourage you to do so. Over the past 4 years, we have worked with Rosie and the 27 Miracles team on numerous events for great causes.  They truly have their community’s best interest at heart and their drive to help others is admirable.  We are all called to help our neighbor and the events put together by 27 Miracles have become a great way for us to do so. “

Roque Productions is in the business of “Making It Happen” for their clients. Since the beginning, CEO Andrés Roque, made it a point for his clients to feel valued and this carries through the company. From the planning process to the post event wrap-up, you’ll understand that they are driven to go beyond. Sure, there are lots of companies that provide similar services, but the difference in how they provide these services can only be experienced.
