Love at Christmas Time

Merry Christmas to all.  We hope that everyone had a wonderful time with their friends and families! Today’s blog is about Ursula and Robert, a couple in love.  Ursula and Robert met in their complex at the gym.  Each time they were out and about their complex, they kept bumping into each other and it was love at first sight! They started dating and the rest is history!!! Robert being the romantic that he is got down on one knee and proposed to Ursula!

Proposal

The happy couple had great plans to have a large wedding, but instead decided that they would have a more intimate and romantic wedding and focus on their new home and their new baby on the way.  Although some folks could not attend this week day ceremony,  the intimacy of the wedding size, was what they both wanted.

Ursula dreamed of a wedding in the park, not an easy task when it’s a park and there is not a true back up for rain.  But the planning went on at Kissimmee Lake Front.  Let’s watch as this day unfolds.

The wedding day arrived!! It was a hot Friday Morning in October. Upper 80’s, sunny but humid and hot! Southern Elegance Limousine started the morning off with picking up our beautiful Bride Ursula at her home to bring her to the ceremony.  The groom Robert and his  best man arrived first.

Ursula and Robert’s family planned a picnic luncheon in the park for the happy couple but one of the things that Ursula and Robert would miss on was their first cake cutting and toast.  We could not let that happen, so a cake from Publix  came to the rescue as  Michael Anthony Photography captured this sweet and fun moment.

A Cake Topper For Your Wedding

When you consider your wedding cake, a cake topper is a must have. This item has become ideal for weddings throughout the years. Why exactly? Food Editorials’ article by Deam Rass explains the history behind it. An excerpt follows.

The girl asked her father to create a symbol of the unflinching love between her and the groom for the world to see. After mulling over several ideas and carefully deliberating over each one of them, the father decided to make a unique creation – a lovely wedding cake, with two fabulous figurines on top of it. The figurines that the cake top featured were obviously of his daughter and her groom-to-be. The baker had conceived the cake topper as the perfect symbol of their love and bonding. (Rass, para. 12)

The reason why a figurine of the groom and bride has been a popular choice for a cake topper is due to what it symbolizes. It adds an image to the cake representing the love that the couple shares. While this figurine still catches the eye of many engaged couples, other cake topper options have grown in popularity. These include monograms, acrylic and porcelain hearts, and ceramic birds.

Ivy Lane Design provides a beautiful selection of cake toppers as well as other wedding day necessities. You can visit their selection at http://www.ivylanedesign.com/reception/cake-foppers-figurines.html?p=1.

Remember, a cake topper should compliment the wedding cake beautifully but also compliment the newlywed couple.

How to Select Your Wedding Cake

Selecting your wedding cake is just as important as selecting your wedding dress states Angela Taylor, Professional Bridal Consultant with 27 Miracles in California.

When choosing a bakery there are several things to consider. This is why research is very important, and thanks to the new age of technology that research can start online. After narrowing down a few prospective baker’s/bakeries, it will be time to set up an appointment to visit them soon after.

Here are a few tips to get you started:

1.  Choose a bakery with excellent references

While looking online you want to find bakeries with great feed back. If a particular baker has multiple bad reviews then you may want to run the other way!!!

2 Don’t wait till the last minute

You want to give yourself an adequate amount of time to select a bakery/baker. Once you have a theme and color scheme the hunt should begin. My advice is to give yourself 4-6 months, so that your not in a last minute panic.

3. Make sure you love the design and taste

Design and taste are very important.  When choosing designs you have several options, some of these options will depend on whether or not the wedding will be held indoors or outdoors. Nowadays, more and more brides are choosing fondant in lieu of buttercream, however there are many bakers/bakeries that can create the same look without the excess sugary taste of fondant.  The flavors of today’s wedding cakes are more than your average chocolate and vanilla or your lemon or strawberry fillings. Rarely do you see a simple cake or simple figurine of the bride and groom on top.

It is perfectly okay to be creative, choose your wedding colors, a replica of your dress color or  just about anything that fits your wedding theme.  But before spending time on a design,  first set up a time for a tasting to make sure that it will be all you imagined taste- wise . Look for texture and flavor. This is also when you will possibly be able to look at replicas and see their portfolio.

Lastly……

4.  I cannot stress enough………….

Having a friend or family make a cake may save you money, but it can cause certain chaotic issues.  I once coordinated a wedding where a family member of the bride made the cake and the venue refused to serve it because they declined to be responsible if any guests  were to become ill. All reputable venues will ask for health and business license as well as liability license from a baker.

At another wedding a bride ordered a wedding cake from a local grocery store and it was left sitting outside in the sun. The cake changed colors and the pillars sunk into the cake causing the cake to lean and almost fall to the ground.  How do you fix that?

With all that being said, if you find yourself very busy during the wedding planning process, getting a qualified wedding planner such as myself or any of the ones here at 27 Miracles; would be a great decision.  We are here to help make this process as easy as possible.

Advance Plans For Your Wedding

Planning a wedding involves a seemingly endless amount of work, and can be a bit overwhelming in the months and weeks leading up to your wedding. Some people are lucky enough to be able to pass a lot of the burden on to friends, family, or even a wedding planner – but, regardless of how much help you enlist, you will still be involved in many aspects of planning your own wedding. And, along the way, you will likely find that it is some of the smaller details over which you have the most control. With that in mind, here are a few thoughts that might be helpful with planning certain details of your wedding ceremony.

Bridesmaids Dresses

In many cases, figuring out the design and style of the bridesmaids’ dresses can be one of the trickiest parts of planning the wedding! The simple fact is, with traditional bridesmaids’ dresses, it is hard to satisfy all of your friends and family members that may be acting as bridesmaids at the wedding. Fortunately, however, a (HYPERLINK) http://www.weddingbee.com/2012/06/19/bridesmaids-dresses-trends/ (ANCHOR) “new trend emerging” in these dresses makes the whole process a lot easier. These days, it is becoming fairly common for bridesmaids’ dresses to match in colour, but not necessarily in style. This way, your bridal party can appear unified, and can blend in beautifully with the ceremony, but each individual bridesmaid can choose a flattering and comfortable style for herself!

Wedding Rings

While most people envision wedding bands as fairly traditional, and fairly basic in appearance, you may want to take the time to make sure that you and your future spouse are absolutely as happy as you can be with your wedding rings. When you set about choosing wedding rings, you may find that there are more options than you realized, and this can complicate the process. For example, if you look at a site like (HYPERLINK) http://www.77diamonds.com/engagement-rings.htm (ANCHOR) “77 Diamonds”, you will discover several customization options for wedding bands, from the type of metal used, to the thickness of the rings, to the option of having diamonds set in the rings. These are details many people don’t anticipate when planning weddings, so this is worth looking into in advance.

Wedding Cake

Choosing the right wedding cake can also be a very tricky concept that takes a surprising amount of time. In fact, there are some current trends leading people to avoid the process altogether and go for (HYPERLINK) http://blog.weddingpaperdivas.com/top-alternative-wedding-desserts (ANCHOR) “alternative desserts” – such as selections of cupcakes or pies – instead. Wedding cakes are traditional as ornaments at receptions, but they are also cumbersome, expensive, and often not as delicious as they look. It is very important to take the time to look at several different cake options, and also to taste test your final choices, and consider alternative desserts. This may not seem important in advance, while you are getting your guest list and venues together – but no one wants to be stuck with a bad wedding cake when the big day arrives!
